KUALA LUMPUR: A bangle released by the high-end brand Balenciaga has been ridiculed by social media users for its "cellophane tape" inspired design.
The bangle, from Balenciaga's Fall/Winter 2024 collection, made its debut during the recent Paris Fashion Week.
On social media, many mocked the brand over the bangle after fashion influencer @highsnobiety, posted a video showing the tape captioned, "Would you wear this?".
"Balenciaga is a social experiment of selling rich people senseless stuff," said user @toni.montana97.
"I swear this whole brand is just a big inside joke," commented @imperial_empress.
Meanwhile, another user @hypebeast posted a video showing the tape being used as accessories for clothes.
A user @kylie_9725282 commented: "What a joke back in the day the clothes were elegant and beautiful now it's trash bags and sticky tape for ridiculous prices."
This is not the first time that Balenciaga's creations have been ridiculed.
In 2017, it released a US$2,000 (RM9,403) bag that resembled Ikea's iconic blue bag.
