#NSTviral: 'Wrong shop, bro' protesters mistake 99 Speedmart for KK Super Mart [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of protestors became a laughing stock when they wrongly staged a boycott in front of a convenience store bearing a name almost identical to the one recently involved in the 'Allah' socks saga.

A 13-second video of the protest was shared by user "Mesinbasuh" on reddit.

"Salah kedai bang, boikot KKmart, itu Speedmart (Wrong store, should boycott KKmart, that is 99 Speedmart)," the user posted, with laughing emojis.

The video has drawn various comments from Malaysians.

"I shouldn't laugh at such serious matters, but hahaha.. Otak udang (unwise)," said TellMyselfBeHappy.

Another user attempted to rationalise the situation by suggesting that there might not be a nearby KKmart, hence they opted for something almost identical.

"I think I know why (they are staging the boycott at 99 Speedmart). There is no KK Mart nearby, so they use 99 Speedmart as a background instead," said eijiryuzaki.

KK Super Mart has been heavily criticised after photos surfaced of socks being sold with the word "Allah" at their branch in Bandar Sunway.

The convenience store has since issued an apology and conducted inspections at its outlets nationwide.

Police have advised the public against taking matters into their own hands.
