#NSTviral: Seven teens remanded over KK Central Market fight in viral clip [NSTTV]

KOTA KINABALU: Seven teenagers have been remanded in connection with a fight involving a group of teenagers in front of the Kota Kinabalu Central Market, which has gone viral on social media over the past few days.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Musa said the teenagers, aged 14 and above, were arrested after a police report was lodged on the incident.

Kasim, however, ruled out any connection to secret society activities, stating that the fight broke out due to bullying, extortion, and dissatisfaction.

"The incident involved a group of teenagers suspected of fighting among themselves using objects such as pipes and sticks.

"This incident does not involve gang elements and was due to bullying, extortion and dissatisfaction," he said in a statement today.

The statement, however, did not indicate when and where the teenagers were arrested or the length of their remand order.

In light of this, Kasim advised the public not to upload any recordings or statements without verification from the authorities, as doing so could create public unrest.

Earlier, the actions of a group of children turning the roundabout and roads in front of the Kota Kinabalu Central Market into a 'playground', as seen in a viral video on social media, have triggered concern among social media users.

This not only raises concerns about the safety of the children but also disrupts traffic in the area.
