PAN Youth questions Mat Taib's reason for rejoining Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) Youth expressed its disappointment over Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib’s announcement to leave PKR.

Its chief Mohd Sany Hamzan said while every individual has the right to leave and join any party, Muhammad’s reason to rejoin Umno seems rather redundant as he gave a similar reason when he joined PKR back in 2015.

“He previously felt that Umno’s struggle has become futile and was based on worldly visions.

“Now it seems as though he is returning to Umno because he feels that the opposition’s struggle is futile as well, accusing the pact of not fighting for the Malay agenda.

“To us, his statement is baseless. This is because Pakatan Harapan often discussed Malay interests but Mat Taib (Muhammad) was never involved in these discussions held with higher division meetings.

"He had only engaged himself with lower division meetings,” said Sany.

Earlier today, Muhammad, who is former Selangor Mentri Besar and former Umno vice-president, has announced his decision to leave PKR and rejoin Umno.
