PPBM, PKR supporters abandoning ship due to party woes, claims Pas veep

KOTA BARU: Pas believes many Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) supporters have become disillusioned due to the ongoing problems in the two parties.

Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said he also believes PPBM and PKR have lost their lustre, leading to many of their supporters and leaders to abandon the parties.

This, said Nik Amar, is why Pas has set up a new coalition, named Gagasan Sejahtera, to help the party draw even more supporters.

"It has always been Pas's policy not to interfere with other parties' matters but nowadays, we can see weaknesses in the other parties such as PPBM and PKR. Many of their leaders have left the parties and are even facing bankruptcy problems.

"Praise be to God, Pas, do not have any such problems," he said.

Nik Amar, who is also deputy Kelantan Menteri Besar, was speaking to reporters after launching the Loghat Kelantan' seminar at a hotel here today.

The event was attended by around 500 people.

Meanwhile, Nik Amar said even Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is now PPBM chairman, has his own record' of sorts during his 22 years as prime minister. This, he said, was in contrast to Pas who have never had such issues despite ruling Kelantan for the last 23 years.

Both PPBM and PKR have been hit with a series of internal problems. PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli is currently facing bankruptcy over his failure to pay damages and cost related to the National Feedlot Corporation’s (NFC) defamation suit against him.

Last week, PPBM vice-president Datuk Hamidah Osman had announced her resignation.

Hamidah's resignation was followed by that of her younger sister, Hamizura, who has been embroiled in a controversy following a racially-charged Facebook post.

Earlier, PPBM founding member Anina Saadudin had announced that she was leaving PBPM, claiming that the party no longer practiced the principles of justice, transparency and integrity in its administration.
