Negri Sembilan MB says Dr M won't have any effect on BN

SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) should not be worried with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad being named as the next prime minister if Pakatan Harapan (PH) wins the upcoming 14th general elections.

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the move will have no effect on BN's election machinery which is working very hard right now at both the national and state levels.

"The move will not affect BN. However, BN members must continue to work hard to ensure that the people continue to receive the good services which we have provided all this while.

“What is important is that the people are able to evaluate BN's sterling track record in the past and in the future," Mohamad told reporters here today after an assembly with the state's civil servants in conjunction with the new year.

Mohamad was commenting on PH's move yesterday to name Dr Mahathir as their prime minister candidate should the opposition win the 14th general election.

In jest, Mohamad welcomed back Dr Mahathir for being nominated as PH's prime minister.

"That is their right and part of their manifesto and up to them to nominate any individual as their leader."

Mohamad, who is also state BN chairman, said the decision to name Dr Mahathir is just another practise by all political parties to prepare their manifesto before the general elections take place.
