Ismail: Pakatan manifesto unrealistic, merely empty promises

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto which is expected to be announced today is unrealistic, says Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said it was merely empty promises to get voters to vote for them in the 14th General Election.

“They never deliver on what they promise to the people. Last time, they said 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) was a bribe for the people from the government. But, yesterday in Parliament, the opposition pact lauded the aid. They said it would help people cope with the high cost of living and should be continued,” he said at Majlis Amanah Rakyat’s (Mara) 52nd anniversary celebrations here today.

“From that we can see their true colours. They promise the moon and stars. It is unrealistic,”

Ismail, who is also the rural and regional development minister, said he was confident that Barisan Nasional (BN) would win the election because it always kept its promises.

He said BN would continue to serve and pay heed to the needs of the rakyat.

Ismail said Mara had achieved its objective of helping Bumiputeras.

He said there were about 1.2 million students and almost one million Bumiputera entrepreneurs had registered under Mara.

He said 500,000 students were sponsored by Mara.

Some 1,000 Mara employees and guests were at the event.
