PPBM, PKR and PAN could swap Kedah state seats

ALOR SETAR: Despite agreeing on the number of seats to contest in the 14th General Election (GE14), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) have yet to agree on which seats they would respectively contest.

Kedah Pakatan Harapan (PH) deputy chairman Dr Azman Ismail did not discount the possibility of seat swapping among PKR, PAN and PPBM before PH’s list of candidates was announced.

“We have agreed on the seat ratio, with 14 going to PPBM, and 10 each to DAP and PKR, while DAP takes two seats,” said the state PKR chairman.

DAP will defend the Derga and Kota Darulaman state seats.

It was reported earlier that PPBM and PKR would each contest six parliamentary seats, while PAN would contest three. DAP is not contesting any of the 15 parliamentary seats.

During the 13th general election, PKR contested 10 state seats (Kuah, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Pedu, Gurun, Bukit Selambau, Lunas, Sidam, Kulim, Bakar Arang and Suka Menanti), while DAP contested two (Derga and Kota Darulaman).

PAN state chairman Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh said PH’s list of candidates for Kedah would be unveiled three days before nomination day.

“We have agreed to make the announcement together with PPBM, PKR and DAP,” he said.
