Kedah MB: Why isn't Tun M contesting in Kubang Pasu?

ALOR STAR: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has questioned Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s decision not to contest in Kubang Pasu parliamentary seat, which he served as the elected representative for 30 years.

The state Umno liaison committee chairman said Dr Mahathir’s decision indicated that there was something amiss that had prompted him to contest in Langkawi instead.

He said Dr Mahathir’s decision to contest in Langkawi clearly showed that he did not appreciate Kubang Pasu voters who had made him a leader.

Besides Dr Mahathir who will be contesting in Langkawi, his son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz is slated to contest in Jitra state seat and Jerlun parliamentary seat while former state Opposition leader Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah will contest in Kubang Pasu parliamentary seat and Anak Bukit state seat.

On the opposition’s decision to field Mukhriz and Amiruddin in two seats, Bashah said it clearly showed that they had no confident to win in GE14.

He said Mukhriz should have defended the Ayer Hitam state seat that he won in the last general election and not move to another constituency.
