Meru residents have enough, talking to PKR leaders is like talking to a wall

KLANG: Meru residents, who have been living in distraught and fear over the last decade, have decided to vote for change in the coming 14th General Election.

Resident and Gerakan Masyarakat Prihatin Semalaysia president S. Hassan Kuthoos Syed Ahmed Kabir said they had to endure numerous issues, which had not been resolved until today.

He also described Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and incumbent Kapar Member of Parliament G. Manivannan as unapproachable leaders, unfit to be representatives of the people.

“We, had on numerous occasions raised the issues affecting the people here to our assemblyman (Pas’ Dr Abdul Rani Osman, who will be contesting for Kapar Parliament seat in GE14), MP and Menteri Besar.

“Not one of them bothered to meet us and discussed solutions to address the issues.

“They (Azmin and Manivannan) are not a people’s leader,” Hassan said when met at Jalan Kasim, Meru here.

Among the key issues raised with the PKR-led government were on bad roads conditions, potholes, uncollected garbage and frequent flash floods as well as the need for speed breakers along Jalan Kasim, he added.

“The bad road conditions coupled with many potholes have not only damaged vehicles, but have led to accidents. And when it rains, we are always on our feet, preparing for flash floods.”

Another resident Kamaruddin Karim also echoed Hassan’s views.

“We have made many complaints and submitted memorandum seeking help to solve the problems we face. Yet, no actions were taken.

“We have also requested the relevant authorities to ban heavy-duty vehicles and lorries from using Jalan Kasim and other roads along the kampung here.

There had even been an accident in the past, thankfully the victim, an elderly man survived with minor injuries.

“We are frustrated. It is pointless to voice our concerns and problems. Talking to PKR leaders is like talking to a wall. We did not see any kind of reaction or response from them. Hence, we have decided to vote for change this time around,” he added.

Meru state constituency has a total of 39,091 voters, comprising 60.21 per cent Malay, 15.14 per cent Chinese, 23.98 per cent Indians and 0.38 per cent other races.

It will see a five-cornered fight in GE14. The candidates are BN’s Khairul Anuar Saimun, PKR’sMohd Fakhrulrazi Mokhtar, PRM’s Manikavasagam Sundaram, Pas’ Noor Najhan Salleh, and independent candidate Shee Chee Weng.
