Anwar ribs the media: 'No questions for Rafizi or Azmin?'

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today ribbed the media after his protégés Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Rafizi Ramli turned up for a press conference together today.

Anwar, who was hounded by journalists over his decision to contest in the Port Dickson by-election, asked: ”Why are you not asking Azmin and Rafizi questions (Pasal apa Azmin dan Rafizi tak tanya)?” he said, barely being able to contain his giggles as he patted Azmin on the back.

“When they are not seated together you all are such busybodies. Every day you are preoccupied. Even in Singapore, you are all asking me about them fighting.”

“Now that they are okay you all don’t like it right... You all need to see them fighting only,” said Anwar.

Seated next to Azmin was Rafizi. Both are vying for the PKR deputy presidency and have been at loggerheads ahead of a hotly-contested party election.

His remark drew peals of laughter from the press.

This is the first show of solidarity between the duo, who are embroiled in a protracted spat.

The deepening tensions between Rafizi and Azmin have been simmering for some time.

Rafizi and his camp had, among others, accused Azmin, who is also the Economic Affairs Minister of being a pawn in a plan masterminded by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to prevent Anwar from being prime minister.

Anwar had also distanced himself from the spat between the two leaders, known to be his most loyal followers, by asking the public to not drag him into the squabble.
