Petitions filed to PKR central election committee on bribery during party election

KOTA KINABALU: A few candidates for top posts from the PKR Sepanggar division have filed petitions to the central election committee on possible bribery during the party election last Saturday.

It is learnt that a few members of the division have lodged reports with the state Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission this morning, claiming they were offered money to vote for specific candidates.

Candidate for deputy Sepanggar division chief Wainin Satimin said he had received information from few people on the offers.

“Based on the complaints and evidence, other top committee members and I filed a petition to the central committee to take further action against those involved in money politics.

“This is shocking and we will ask the committee to investigate the case,” he told the NSTP.

During the Sepanggar PKR election, 2,133 out of 7,569 voters turned out at the Menggatal community hall.

Incumbent division chief Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen defended his post with 751 votes while his three contenders Ramlan Naim gots 347; Datuk Nani Sakam (148) and Ali Bidin (38).
