Rafizi among 3 appointed as PKR veeps

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Pandan member of parliament Rafizi Ramli, who lost the deputy president’s race during the recent PKR polls, has been appointed as one of the party’s vice-presidents.

Rafizi’s appointment into the party’s central leadership council for the 2018-2021 term was announced by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in a statement posted on the party’s official Facebook account.

Anwar also announced the appointment of Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang as one of the vice-presidents. Also included in the new line-up as vice-president was Saratok MP Ali Biju, who will represent the interest of Sarawak and Sabah.

“The appointments reflected the party’s strong leadership comprising leaders of different races, ages and genders, which is the strength of PKR.

“It is hoped that these leaders can deliver the trust entrusted to them and fulfil the expectations of the rakyat in the New Malaysia,” said Anwar, who is also Port Dickson MP.

During the recent party election, Rafizi lost the contest for the deputy president’s post to Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who is economic affairs minister.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has been retained as PKR’s secretary-general, while Segamat MP Datuk Seri Dr Edmund R. Santhara Kumar has been appointed as his deputy.

Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin and G. Manivannan have been appointed as PKR’s deputy information chiefs.

Semambu assemblyman Lee Chean Chung has been appointed the party’s treasurer-general.

Deputy Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin is the party’s new information chief, while Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has been appointed PKR’s supervising secretary.

Nibong Tebal MP Datuk Dr Mansor Othman has been appointed PKR’s strategic director and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil as the party’s communications director.
