I will help new MB carry out his duties, says Osman

JOHOR BARU: Former Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian has voiced his willingness to provide assistance and advice to his successor, Dr Sahruddin Jamal.

The four-term assemblyman said as a senior politician, he has no problems sharing his experience and knowledge with the newly-minted Menteri Besar.

“I will continue to serve as the Kempas assemblyman.

“I will also give my full support to Dr Sahruddin to continue developing the state.

“Assuming a post is a big responsibility but what is more important is our service to the people,” the Kempas assemblyman told reporters at the Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) headquarters, here, today.

Dr Sahruddin, who is also the Bukit Kepong assemblyman, was present at the press conference.

Osman added that he was confident with Dr Sahruddin's ability to carry out his duties as the Menteri Besar.

“He would not be chosen to contest in the last general election if he did not have the required capabilities.

“That is also why I appointed him as the Johor Bersatu secretary,” said Osman.

Dr Sahruddin was appointed as the 17th Johor Menteri Besar to succeed Osman, who stepped down from the post last week.

The new menteri besar was sworn in before the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, during a ceremony Istana Bukit Serene, here, this morning.
