IPOH: Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has extended his congratulations to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on his appointment as the country's ninth prime minister.
Faizal said he hopes Ismail Sabri would receive guidance from God in carrying out his great responsibilities.
He also called on all leaders to work together and assist the prime minister and the cabinet that will be formed.
"Only through unity can we deal with the pandemic that has affected the lives of the people. United we stand, divided we fall,'' he said.
Earlier, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah consented to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob being appointed as the ninth prime minister.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in a statement, said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong determined that the Bera MP had garnered 114 nominations from members of parliament, thus giving him sufficient majority to form a government.
