Rafizi makes a comeback, to contest for PKR's No 2 post

KUALA LUMPUR: Former PKR member of parliament Mohd Rafizi Ramli has announced his return to politics and will be contesting for the post of party deputy president.

He said he was continuously pressured by supporters from PKR and Pakatan Harapan (PH), urging him to return to the political arena.

He said he was not sure if he could help with the current political scenario as his opinions were deemed as minority views among the leaders in PKR and PH.

Being actively involved in the establishment of PH, he said PH was set up not merely to win elections but also to ensure progressive politics of the various races in the country was upheld.

"In my opinion, with the latest developments, multi-racial progressive politics is in jeopardy if PKR and PH continue to be third choice parties and fail to lure voters.

"I have decided to return to politics and confirm I will be contesting for the post of PKR deputy president in the next party election," he said in a statement today.

Back in Dec 2019, Mohd Rafizi announced he was quitting politics.

He was first elected as an MP in 2013 under PKR. He defeated Lim Chin Yee (MCA - Barisan Nasional (BN)) with a 26,729-vote majority to wrest the Pandan parliamentary seat.
