[Updated] Azmin questions Amirudin on Umno's position in Selangor administration

SHAH ALAM: Former Selangor menteri besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali wants his successor Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to state what is Umno's position in the Pakatan Harapan-led state government.

Azmin (Bersatu- Bukit Antarabangsa) said the question needed to be answered as Umno, which previously opposed PH, had become part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Federal Government.

"But in Selangor, we want to know: is it a unity government, a Madani government or a mixed government? What government is it?

"I sympathise with my old friends. When they sat over there (as opposition), they fought me (as menteri besar) but now they are in good terms with the (current) menteri besar and I respect that.

"But if Umno is part of the Selangor government, why have they, as members of the administration, not received their allocations (as state assemblyman)? They are still getting (opposition allocations) like Bukit Antarabangsa and Sijangkang.

"You said you are a Madani government so where is the compassion (nilai ehsan) and justice? I am not angry but merely asking.

"Even the opposition leader is still from Umno. This is a crazy country," he said at the Selangor assembly today.

Azmin said he pitied Umno and Barisan Nasional leaders as none of them had been made local councillors and questioned whether Amirudin's government respected its new partners.

Azmin said if Amirudin could not be fair to his new partners, how was he expected to do the same for Selangor folk.

"Therefore, I want to invite Selangor folk if you want a government that is stable, strong and fair, support Perikatan Nasional in the coming election," he said.

Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin (BN-Sungai Panjang) interjected and said it was best for those with locus standi to discuss Umno's position and then state their stance in the state assembly.

"Let it be status quo until there is a decision and a stance," he said.
