Kelantan Supreme Council members to focus on strengthening Umno

KOTA BARU: Two Kelantan Supreme Council members said their wins come with great responsibility and a sign of trust by the party leadership.

With years experience between them, Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub and Ketereh Umno division chief, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Alwi Che Ahmad are confident that they can do the job.

Jazlan thanked the party leaders especially Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for his trust.

"Winning the post comes with great responsibility and I promise to help the party leadership strengthen the party," said the former Machang MP.

The Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman was also a supreme council member in the last term.

Meanwhile, Alwi, who is Kelantan BN secretary, said this was the second time he was elected as a supreme council member.

"The first was during the 2018 term and I am happy to serve the party again," he added.

Umno yesterday announced its line-up for the 2023/26 term and several ministers and deputies were among the new line-up.

They are Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah and Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad.

Also securing their seats in the Umno Supreme Council were three women leaders, including former Puteri Umno chief Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan.

Other women leaders in the party's supreme council are Datuk Shahaniza Shamsuddin and Datuk Rosnah Abd Rashid Shirlin.

The rest in the 25-member council are Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahim, Datuk Azian Osman, Datuk Dr Shaik Hussein Mydin, Datuk Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii, Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin and Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi.

Others in the council are Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, Datuk Johan Abdul Aziz, Umno information chief Isham Jalil, Datuk Seri Abd Rahman Dahlan, Datuk Lokman Noor Adam, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said, Datuk Mohd Rafi Alli Hassan and Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman.
