Kelantan Bersatu will leave it to its central leadership on Gua Musang MP's fate

KOTA BARU: The decision by Gua Musang member of Parliament Mohd Azizi Abu Naim to declare his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his unity government, has shocked Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

Kelantan Bersatu chief Datuk Kamaruddin Md Nor said he was informed that Azizi has given the statement via his facebook post.

"I can confirm that the statement was issued by Gua Musang MP, who is from Bersatu.

"His statement really suprised me because last Saturday (Nov 4), we had a meeting of the state Bersatu and he (Azizi) also attended the meeting.

"During the meeting, he told me that a 'political broker' has offered him RM4 million together with other benefits if he makes a statement to declare his support to PMX (Anwar).

"He told me that he had rejected all the offers and for that, l congratulated him," he said.

Kamaruddin said he tried to contact Azizi several times but failed.

"His handphone has been disconnected. I even tried to call his wife and driver but also failed to reach them.

"So for the time being, l will leave it to the party's central leadership to take the necessary action against him," he added.

It was reported that Mohd Azizi became the latest opposition MP to declare his support for Anwar and the unity government.

The Gua Musang MP joins fellow Bersatu MPs Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar).

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Azizi said his move to support Anwar had to be done for the sake and betterment of the people in his constituency.

"After carefully going over and listening to the presentation of the 2024 Budget by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also the finance minister, who is striving to lead the country's economic recovery while easing the financial burden of the people of the country, I as the member of Parliament for Gua Musang hereby declare my full support for the leadership of the prime minister from the date of issue of this media statement," he said in the statement.

Azizi, who contested on a Pas ticket during the 15th General Election, said the move would allow his constituents to enjoy all sorts of benefits and initiatives, including the upgrading of infrastructure facilities which he had requested for Gua Musang during his tenure.

Azizi's declaration of support for Anwar comes just after Bersatu announced that it had suspended Suhaili's membership in the party for six years for backing Anwar.

Two days earlier, Bersatu had also suspended Iskandar Dzulkarnain's membership, for four years
