KEMAMAN: Pas has slammed Terengganu Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said over his disgusting accusation against Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, claiming the latter had taken a dip without his clothes in a 'kolah (ablution pool)' at the Rusila mosque in Marang several years ago.
Terengganu Pas deputy commissioner 2 Datuk Satiful Bahari Mamat labelled Ahmad's statement as extreme and distasteful, which should never be uttered by the state Umno chief, who is also a proposer or seconder of the Barisan Nasional (BN)'s candidate for the Kemaman by-election.
"Pas is extremely upset over Ahmad's dirty tactics during the campaign. He accused the president of bathing naked in the ablution pool at Rusila mosque. I think such a statement is beyond the rational mind.
"Maybe the police should conduct a urine test on him (Ahmad) as such a remark is inappropriate. It is extremely shameful behaviour, especially for someone of his age.
"Furthermore, the accusations were allegedly made during the Covid-19 pandemic when 'Tok Guru' (spiritual teacher) only delivers his sermon online. So, how could such an incident(bath) take place? As a grown-up, one has to be reasonable and make appropriate statements," he said during a press conference at the Pas media centre today.
Satiful Bahari said Pas hopes BN and Umno will practise mature politics during the campaign as the country has witnessed so many elections. However, some still adopt old-age politics and appear to be left far behind.
He said Pas had lodged police reports but did not specify if they had lodged a report against Ahmad's remark.
In a YouTube video, Ahmad had allegedly, during a ceramah, said some three years ago, someone returned on an express bus on a Thursday(night) and slept at the mosque to hear the ceramah(sermon).
"There was once, people met Haji Hadi bathing naked in the ablution pool. The person wanted to take "air sembahyang (ablution)" on Friday morning. He saw Haji Hadi naked in the pool," he said.
The Kemaman parliamentary seat by-election on Dec 2 will be a straight fight between BN's General (Rtd) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar from Perikatan Nasional.
The by-election was called following the decision of the Terengganu Election Court on Sept 26 to annul the victory of Pas candidate Che Alias Hamid in the 15th General Election (GE15).
