Bukit Gantang MP likely the last elected rep to back Anwar, says Saifuddin Abdullah

KUANTAN: Bukit Gantang member of parliament Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal is likely the final Bersatu representative to pledge support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his unity government.

Bersatu Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah said as far as he is concerned, Syed Abu Hussin could be the last Bersatu member of parliament to openly declare support for Anwar.

"As I know, he (Syed Abu Hussin) could probably be the last one but I am not sure if there are more....sometimes, you can feel the wind blowing (early indication). This is the fifth person making an announcement and hopefully the last.

"I was saddened when another comrade announced his support for Anwar. I am now sure if he pledged support to Anwar solely due to allocations (for members of parliament) or what," he told reporters after tabling the Indera Mahkota parliamentary constituency's annual report card at his service centre today.

Earlier, Syed Abu Hussin announced his support for Anwar as the Prime Minister and the Madani government at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin, who is the Pahang Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman called upon all PN members of parliaments especially those from Bersatu to take a leaf from the previous opposition member of parliaments.

"In the past, many member of parliaments have served in the opposition but majority of them never made matters related to allocation as an issue to the extent of supporting the prime minister from the rival (coalition). We have to learn from those who were previously in the opposition including Pas, DAP and even Umno who were once the opposition," he said.
