Bukit Gantang's appointment strengthens role as mole within PN, says Bersatu man

KUALA LUMPUR: The appointment of Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Syed Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal to lead a cluster committee under the Special Meeting of the National Action Council on Cost of Living (NACCOL) has strengthened suspicion of his role as a mole within Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said the sacked PN member of parliament (MP) was a traitor, who was being used by the government to "fish" for more of its MPs.

"(And) this (his appointment) is nothing new as we have proof of him inviting and trying to entice our MPs to support the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Earlier, Anwar announced the appointment of Syed Abu Hussin, who is also the Bukit Gantang MP, to lead a cluster committee under NACCOL's Special Meeting, adding that the latter's appointment was to improve and expand the Madani Sales in the country in line with the government's aim to tackle cost-of-living issues.

On Nov 9, last year, Syed Abu Hussin said that he would support the government under Anwar's leadership should his request for funding for his constituency be approved.

Soon after, he declared his support for Anwar in Dewan Rakyat on Nov 28. He was the fifth PN member to declare his support for the prime minister and the government.

On related matters, Wan Fayhsal also dismissed the claim that more Bersatu MPs would declare support for Anwar should the opposition fail to prove its ability to change the government in the near time.

This comes after a report stated that a party insider claimed that more Bersatu MPs would pledge support for Anwar unless PN's top leadership could present solid proof of taking over the government.

Following this, Wan Fayhsal said the claim was merely a narrative planted by the prime minister's camp within Bersatu to break the party apart.

"There is no such thing as an ultimatum being given by all MPs in the party with regards to such a proposal."
