TSG dominate Asian cycling once again

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team (TSG) have secured their position as Asia's No. 1 team in the International Cycling Union (UCI) rankings for the third consecutive season.

Additionally, TSG ended the season by climbing one spot to world No. 30.

TSG rider Sainbayaryn Jambaljamts emerged as the second-highest ranked rider in Asia, amassing an impressive 665 points.

"The 2023 season concluded on Oct 17, with TSG retaining their No. 1 status in Asia for the third consecutive time," said TSG chief operating officer Nasiruddin Wan Idrus yesterday.

"This marks the fifth time TSG have finished a season as Asia's No. 1 since the team's formation in 2011.

"What makes this even sweeter is our global ranking of No. 30 among 215 teams in the UCI rankings," said Nasiruddin.

During this season, TSG introduced new members to their team, including Zuladri Amin Zulkurnain, Kee Zhee Yie, Shahmir Aiman Halim, Indonesian rider Aiman Cahyadi and Australian-born Jesse Ewart.

The team also featured familiar faces such as Harrif Saleh, Shahrul Mat Amin, Nur Amirull Fakhruddin Mazuki, Irwandie Lakasek, Nur Aiman Zarif, Wan Abdul Rahman, Youcef Reguigui, Metkel Eyob Teweldeberhan, Jeroen Meijers, Sainbayar and Anatolii Budiak.

TSG secured over RM11 million in sponsorships for the year from 24 domestic and foreign companies, as well as support from the state government.
