KUALA LUMPUR: Coach B. Sathianathan slammed the former regime of the FA of Selangor (FAS) for failure to provide adequate facilities for the state team over the years.
He claimed that the facilities, left behind by the former regime, are in a sad state, and this has affected his team’s preparation for the new M-League season.
“Selangor do not have proper facilities despite their rich history in Malaysian football. Today, the team do not have a permanent training field and also a decent changing room.
“My players have to share the changing room during training. Many foreigners join Selangor because of their proud history, but most become disappointed when they realise that the facilities are in a poor state.
“Recently, I had requested for training sessions at the Shah Alam Stadium, but to my surprise, the management of the venue said it was not ready for use. I am puzzled as the league starts in seven days.
“I blame the former regime for this. However, I am confident that the present regime will make things better for the team in stages,” said Sathianathan after the unveiling of the team’s new jersey for the M-League on Saturday.
Selangor, under the new regime, have brought in several big names to strengthen the squad. Among them are Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor, Abdul Latiff Suhaimi and Faiz Nasir.
