Cash, consistency requisites for success

SUCCESS takes time, and it also comes with a hefty price tag.

Selangor coach B. Satiananthan and Australian defender Taylor Regan believe consistency and investment are the two elements behind Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) success in the M-League.

Satiananthan has urged other M-League teams to re-evaluate their strategies in order to give the Southern Tigers a run for their money in the future.

“Other teams must find ways to improve. That’s all.

“They got to be more serious in preparing their teams,” said Satiananthan.

“If you want to be successful, you need good players and coaches, and also proper infrastructure.”

Regan foresees Selangor giving JDT a run for their money in the near future.

“Two weeks ago in Larkin, we showed we could match them.

“In fact, we were unlucky in the 3-2 defeat to JDT.

“It’s about being consistent. Selangor have invested in training facilities, and I hope this effort will spark something positive,” he said.

Despite JDT’s success of winning the M-League six straight times, the centre-back does not feel the competition has become too predictable.

“However, other teams need to get stronger. An expansion of the league from 12 to 14 or 16 teams might help in making the competition tougher,” he added.
