Nafuzi tells Turtles to avoid late stumbles

KUALA LUMPUR: Coach Nafuzi Zain has warned the Turtles to avoid "going fast and slowing down."

Terengganu have got off to a blistering start in the Malaysia Cup by winning their first two group matches.

But Nafuzi was quick to remind his men of their weak ending in the Super League this season despite a strong start. Terengganu, at one stage, was second in the table, but fizzled out after three losses and a draw in their last four games.

Now, Terengganu hope to win the Malaysia Cup for the last ticket to next year's AFC Cup/

Nafuzi wants his men to focus on winning their group and qualify for the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals.

"The team are on the right track after winning two games. This time around, I hope what happened to us in the league, does not happen again."

After beating Kuching City 2-0 and Selangor 2-1, Terengganu lead Group B, followed by Selangor, Perak and Kuching City.

In preparation for their next four Malaysia Cup matches: against Perak (Oct 30 and Nov 3), Selangor (Nov 7) and Kuching City (Nov 10), Terengganu will play two friendly matches, against Kelantan United and Kelantan on Oct 17 and Oct 22.

However, Terengganu will be without three key players – Arif Fadzilah, Faisal Halim and Hakimi Abdullah – who are in quarantine after returning with the national team from Amman, Jordan.
