Kelantan flying again

FORMER giants Kelantan are starting to find their feet in a bid to return to the Super League after chalking up their fourth win in the Premier League.

The Red Warriors showed their mettle in the come-from-behind 3-1 win over Perak FC at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on Sunday.

Perak took the lead through Nazmi Ahmad (21st minute) in the first half before the east coast side grabbed the win with goals from Nurshamil Ghani (48th and 70th) and Syed Sobri Syed Mohamad (66th).

Kelantan and Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) have 12 points each with the former at the top of the standings on goal difference.

As JDT II are ineligible for promotion, Kelantan's main rivals for the two Super League berths are fifth-placed Police and sixth-placed Kelantan FC, who have six points each.

The other teams not eligible for the promotion are third-placed Selangor FC II, fourth-placed Terengganu FC II and eighth-placed FAM-NSC Project Squad.

Perak are bottom of the table with negative six points after being slapped with a nine-point deduction for failing to settle salary arrears.

Kelantan coach Rezal Zambry Yahya said his team are in a good position to earn a Super League berth.

"Perak gave us a tough fight and even took the lead in the first half. However, we managed to bounce back in the second half to complete the win," said Rezal.

"We have not achieved our optimum level yet as I am still experimenting with my squad. I believe we will get even better in the later stages of the season."

Meanwhile, JDT II defeated Kuching FC 3-1 to maintain their pressure on Kelantan.

JDT II scored through Fernando Rodriguez (19th minute), Adam Nor Azlin (54th) and Moussa Sidibe (67th), while Alif Hassan (61st) replied for Kuching.
