Luqman joins Njardvik on loan, first Malaysian to play in Iceland

KUALA LUMPUR: National footballer Luqman Hakim Shamsudin is set to become the first Malaysian to play in Iceland after joining Njardvik FC on loan for a season.

Luqman will be plying his trade in Iceland's second division this year.

Njardvík welcomed the player in a statement released today.

They have agreed to a year-long loan from Luqman's current club KV Kortrijk.

"Luqman has arrived in Iceland and we can't wait to see him in action," said Njardvík.

The 20-year-old, who has two senior caps, was previously included in The Guardian's list of 60 best young footballers in the world for 2019.

Luqman joined Kortrijk in 2020 and made two senior appearances with the Belgian club but mostly featured with their reserve and Under-21 teams.
