Selangor FC give priority to drainage ahead of grass

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC are more interested in drainage than the grass at their temporary home, the MBPJ Stadium, for the new M-League season.

So, they are keen to take up the Sports Ministry's "offer" of a drainage upgrade of their field.

Selangor will use the MBPJ Stadium for at least three more years as their Shah Alam Stadium is closed for renovations.

Selangor, who will play in this season's Asian Champions League 2, have numbered the seats at MBPJ Stadium to meet the Asian Football Confederation's

requirement.

For now, Selangor aren't "interested' in upgrading their pitch due to time constraint.

Selangor FC chief operating officer Aladdin Mostafa said they will accept the Sports Ministry's RM300,000 aid for drainage works.

"We're not keen (on grass upgrade)... to change the grass, it could take three to four months which isn't enough time for us. But the upgrade to drainage will take priority."

He said they are also currently making minor changes to improve the stadium's lounge, changing room, entrance and corporate box.
