Fifa bars five M-League teams from registering players

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of five M-League clubs have been slapped with player registration bans by Fifa.

A quick check on the knowledge.fifa.com website reveals that one of the teams, Kedah, are still actively competing in the Super League.

The four other teams are Kelantan FC, Melaka United, Sarawak United and Perlis FA.

Kedah have been sanctioned since March 4.

The Red Warriors (Aug 22), Melaka United (Mar 7) and Sarawak United (May 5) have been barred since last year. Perlis FA have been barred since Sep 25, 2020.

The situation raises question marks regarding the status of new players signed by Kedah for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

Barring teams from registering players is one form of disciplinary action that Fifa or the Football Tribunal can take against teams.
