UiTM to face champions Tenaga in TNB Cup semis

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and newly crowned league champions Tenaga Nasional will face off in the TNB Cup semi-finals following convincing victories today.

UiTM defeated Nurinsafi Sporting 3-1 in the quarter-final return leg at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil to win 5-2 on aggregate.

Zul Pidaus Mizun converted two penalty strokes in 14th and 47th minutes for UiTM.

But Kunwardilraj Singh reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute for Nurinsafi.

Muhibuddin Moharam scored UiTM's third in 59th minute.

Tenaga, meanwhile, powered by 10 national players, thrashed KL City 17-1 for a 24-1 aggregate victory.

Defending champions Terengganu defeated Liaoning 4-2 in the quarter-final return leg to win 9-2 on aggregate.

They will face Maybank in the semi-finals.

Maybank outplayed TNB Thunderbolts 7-2 to win 14-3 on aggregate.

The first legs of the semi-finals will be played on March 5, followed by the return legs on March 7.

The final in on March 9.

Liaoning 0 Terengganu 4 (Terengganu win 9-2 on aggregate),

UiTM 3 Nurinsafi Sporting 1 (UiTM win 5-2 on aggregate),

TNB Thunderbolts 2 Maybank 7 (Maybank win 14-3 on aggregate).
