KL2017: Ng Eain Yow wins gold in men's singles squash

KUALA LUMPUR: Ng Eain Yow won the gold medal in the Sea Games men's singles squash after overcoming teammate Syafiq Kamal 11-4, 11-9, 11-2 in the finals at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil today.

The win came after Eain Yow suffered a shocking defeat to Philippines’s Robert Garcia in the men's team semi-finals with a 2-0 in the morning.

The 2016 world junior champion would redeem himself against Syafiq, who was not listed in the line-up against the Philippines which may have been a contributing factor in Malaysia's early exit.

Eain Yow, 19, follows 2015 gold medallist Sanjay Singh Chal as Sea Games men's champion and won Malaysia's fifth gold medal in the sport after S. Sivasangari defeated Rachel Arnold for the women's singles title in another all-Malaysian final.
