MCKK notch easy win

KUALA KANGSAR: Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) opened their campaign at the MCKK Premier Sevens in style with a comprehensive 24-0 win over SMK Abi on Friday.

MCKK scored their tries through Muhammad Syazani Suhaimi, Ferhan Aqil Feisal Edzman and a brace from Muhd Harith Shah Kaharuddin, two of which were successfully converted.

The win allowed MCKK to collect maximum points. They play Australian International School and SMS Tunku Jaafar in their remaining Group C matches on Saturday.

MCKK coach Mohd Romli Saad admitted that his charges found it tough to make the switch from playing 15's to sevens but did well to pull through and win the match.

"In sevens, you cannot afford to make mistakes and also take things for granted when you are leading," said Romli.

"Overall, the boys' did well to play according to my strategy, however, we slowed down in the second half.

"Hopefully this win will give us a boost for tomorrow’s matches."

Romli hopes his team will reach the final and win the NJ Ryan trophy.
