No requests to retract reports over bullying case at MCKK - police

IPOH: Police have not received any requests from the parents or school to retract reports lodged over a bullying case involving form four and form five students at Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK).

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that the parents involved and the school did not meet the police to withdraw the case and the police have completed investigation papers.

"We have completed our investigation papers and submitted them to the Deputy Public Prosecutor Office before they forwarded them to the AGC (Attorney-General's Chambers).

"We got back the investigation papers in order to complete it. We are waiting for full medical reports from the Kuala Kangsar Hospital. We will receive the report from the hospital today.

"Once the investigation papers are completed, we will send them back to the AGC for further instruction, whether to charge the students or otherwise," he said.

Mohd Yusri said this in a press conference at the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters here, today.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt which provides a maximum jail term of one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both, if convicted.

It was learnt that three form four students were being bullied by four form five students at the elite school.

On Nov 5, it was reported that police had confirmed receiving a report over a bullying case involving form four and form five students at the all-boys boarding school.

Kuala Kangsar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said that police came across viral messages relating to the incident on Nov 4 after it was posted on Instagram.

The bullying took place on Sept 24 at about 10.05pm. In the incident, the victim- a Form Four student - was beaten up by a Form Five student.

The victim was then taken to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital by the school for further treatment.

Further checks showed normal physical findings and the victim did not suffer any serious injuries.
