Muthu lodges police report against SAA

DATUK S.M. Muthu lodged a police report against the Selangor Athletics Association (SAA), who sacked him as president following their extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur.

On Sunday, several SAA members called for an EGM and stripped Muthu of his post and life membership in connection with an alleged siphoning of RM110,000 from their fixed deposit account.

Yesterday, Muthu lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi Station in KL, alleging the EGM was null and void as it did not follow regulations.

"Many who attended the EGM were not valid members. There were even children at the EGM," claimed Muthu, who is the Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) president.

Muthu said the move by some quarters in SAA will not affect his presidency at the national level.

In the police report, Muthu wrote: "I read in the media that on Oct 24, SAA held an EGM, and 39 members attended the meeting.

"However, I believe that many were not representatives of SAA affiliates.

"This EGM was held ahead of the annual general meeting (AGM) on Nov 7. Who authorised the EGM?," questioned Muthu, adding that he will not bow down to pressure by relinquishing his MAF presidency due to the illegal SAA EGM.

"I was prepared to counter everything at the AGM. I believe the motive for having an EGM was solely to remove me from the state body."

"I had invested RM110,000 from the fixed deposit account of SAA in various businesses and brought in RM55,000 in profits over the past three years.

"There is RM180,000 in SAA's current account. So, what are they talking about siphoning of funds?".

Muthu claimed that SAA current account is not frozen as alleged by several quarters.

He added that as president of SAA, he had the right to generate income for the association.

The EGM also passed similar motions against SAA's former secretary Abdul Rahim and former treasurer Fauzi Manivannan.
