Aifa makes it a perfect 10 in SRAM PSA final

KUALA LUMPUR: It's a perfect 10 for Aifa Azam as she stormed to the SRAM PSA 6 squash title today.

The national No 4 was in red-hot form, trouncing Chan Yiwen 11-5, 11-1, 11-3 in the final at the National Squash Centre, Bukit Jalil.

Despite playing her third match in a row in the later hours of the day, the Kedahan overpowered Yiwen in just 19 minutes.

It was her second straight win over Yiwen, having won their previous meeting - in the final of the SRAM PSA 5 last month.

The win is Aifa's 10th career title, and it is even more impressive as she has yet to lose in a Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour final, having won all her nine previous finals.

"I think I played very well today, as I didn't drop a game compared to the last time I played Yiwen and only won 3-1," said Aifa.

"I think I went into the match with the mindset to win 3-0, and it was a pretty good performance as I didn't give Yiwen much chance to navigate.

"I think mentally I'm in a pretty good place right now, and physically I'm also in great shape as I've worked really hard to achieve this level of fitness."

In the men's final, top seed and national No 2 Ivan Yuen came out tops once again, beating second seed Syafiq Kamal 11-6, 11-9, 11-0.

It is a second straight title for the world No 52 who also emerged triumphant at the SRAM PSA 5 last month.
