'Low profile' Min Jie appears in New York

KUALA LUMPUR: The United States-based Teh Min Jie scraped past Egyptian Kenzy Ayman 7-11, 13-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-6 in the first round of the US$51,000 Carol Weymuller Open in New York on Thursday.

World No. 238 Min Jie will face Canada's fifth seed Hollie Naughton for a place in the quarter-finals.

Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia honorary secretary Nafzahizam Adnan said: "We did not know that Min Jie is still active in squash. She has not represented Malaysia in any competitions for a long time.

"I heard that she is also coaching a club in the US.

"We lack women's coaches in Malaysia and I hope one day Min Jie will return to Malaysia to coach."
