Sanjay jumps 15 rungs in men's squash rankings

KUALA LUMPUR: Squash player Sanjay Jeeva achieved his career-best ranking of world No. 84 following his semi-final run at the recent Montreal Open.

Sanjay, who is based in Connecticut, moved up 15 rungs from No. 99 in the ranking.

"It is the first time I have made a massive jump in the world rankings after notching a few upsets against higher-ranked players at the Montreal Open.

"It is a huge boost, but I must keep moving up the rankings.

"I need to play in PSA Tour events twice a month to make further jumps. My next event is the Australian Open in Sydney on March 20-24," said Sanjay.

After Sydney, Sanjay will play in the Asian Championships, a qualifier for the World Championships, in Seremban on April 18-21.

Meanwhile, national No. 1 Ng Eain Yow's ranking dropped one rung to No. 19, while S. Sivasangari maintained at No. 16 in the women's rankings.
