Dumb & dumber: Robber accidently knocks out accomplice in botched Shanghai burglary

KUALA LUMPUR: Shanghai police released CCTV footage this week of a burglary attempt in the city that went comically awry.

The video, uploaded to Weibo, has since been viewed over 12 million times.

Footage of the attempted burglary – which took place after midnight on Feb 14 – begins with two men, wearing hooded winter jackets, stealthily approaching a building with bricks.

The first man hurls his brick at the building’s ground floor window, before walking off to the side, presumably to retrieve more bricks.

Unfortunately, his accomplice, who is further back, chooses this exact moment to lob his brick – which strikes the first man square in the side of the head, knocking him unconscious.

In a panic, the man runs to his prone accomplice and drags him, with some difficulty, around the corner of the building.

It is not clear if the bungling burglars were eventually caught by police, but the Shanghai Public Security Bureau ridiculed the duo’s lack of coordination.

“If all thieves were like this, we wouldn’t need to work overtime,” it said on Weibo.
