US' Maine mass shooting suspect found dead

WASHINGTON: Maine Governor Janet Mills told reporters that law enforcement officers have found the body of the Lewiston mass shooting suspect, Robert Card, and he is dead, reported Sputnik.

"I stand here tonight to simply report that the Maine State Police have located the body of Robert Card in Lisbon. He is dead. I called President (Joe) Biden to inform him about this news," Mills said during a press conference Friday night.

On Wednesday night, 40-year-old Card attacked a restaurant and a bowling alley in Lewiston. Eighteen people were killed in the attack and numerous others injured.

Maine Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck said during the press conference that Card died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Card's body was found Friday evening at 7.45 pm Eastern Time near the Androscoggin River in Lisbon Falls, according to Sauschuck. --BERNAMA
