#TECH: Grab's way of helping businesses #Covid19 #dudukrumah #juststayathome

KUALA LUMPUR: Grab Malaysia has launched new features as an initiative to assist businesses, restaurant owners and market sellers to sustain livelihood and cope with the growing demand for food and fresh produce items during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

Its country head, Sean Goh, said the company will try its very best to keep the community thriving during these trying times. “We are far from perfect, but we will not stop trying to do what we can to keep our community thriving and survive,” he said.

“Please continue to stay home and close to your loved ones. And please do spare a thought for the neighbourhood businesses and delivery-partners as they continue to work to make this MCO period a bit more bearable,” he added.

For example, the “Pasar” feature on GrabMart will enable fresh produce, poultry, meat and seafood sellers to serve their customers in a cashless and contactless way.

“While some of us can go out to top up on dwindling supplies, there are those who may be housebound who may not be able to move about as conveniently,” said Goh, adding that GrabMart will be available in Penang, Johor Baru, Malacca, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Ipoh from March 25, 2020.

“Pasar” will be available for use near TTDI Market and Grab hopes to expand into more markets in the near future.

“We hope to serve more homes with daily essentials, health products and immunity-boosters, sanitisers and even snacks and beverages,” added Goh.

Besides that, Grab will also be offering discounts to boost local businesses.

“We are offering Free Delivery, 30 per cent off GrabFood Signatures, and 50 per cent off GrabMart’s health essentials. With this, we hope to drive more income opportunity to both merchants and delivery partners. So every time someone in our community places an order, they are not only saving on their spending, but also supporting two other livelihoods,” said Goh.

Another recently added feature on Grab’s app is Grab “Self Pick-up” option.

The “Self Pick-up” feature offers wait less, cashless and contactless transaction where not only it helps restaurants generate more income, it will also help customers save time and avoid crowds at the same time.

“During these trying times, we will continue to take more steps towards supporting businesses and ensuring Malaysians are able to access even the smallest of necessity via our platform. And, as the nation’s delivery networks strained by the demand spike in deliveries, there’s also a steep drop in the need for ride-hailing which means, we need to create new opportunities for our driver-partners too to sustain a living,” said Goh, adding that Grab Malaysia has already deployed tens of thousands of drivers nationwide to provide the highest levels of reliability for its Food, Mart and Delivery services.
