#Showbiz: Siti raises the roof in knockout concert at Axiata Arena

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza left some 10,000-strong fans in awe with an outstanding 150-minute concert at the Axiata Arena last night, for her biggest tour yet, titled Datuk Siti Nurhaliza On Tour.

Not only did the legendary songstress gave an impressive musical repertoire, she also shared with the audience stories of her early days as a singer.

Looking resplendent in a striking gold ensemble, Siti kicked off the evening with her popular traditional numbers as Joget Berhibur and Joget Kasih Tak Sudah, before rolling out one hit after another which included Percayalah, Siti Siti Sana Sini and Comel Pipi Merah, among others.

While there was indeed much fun and merriment in the air, the 40-year-old artiste took a moment to ask the crowd to observe silence to pray for the victims of the recent Christchurch shooting, as well as those affected by the Pasir Gudang toxic fumes.

Siti who was clearly touched by the impressive turnout also took time to thank her fans for coming.

“Thank you all for choosing to be here, I truly appreciate it. I’m trying not to cry as I know I wouldn’t be able to perform if I do,” she said as she struggled to hold back her tears.

Guest artiste Indonesian singer Tulus joined Siti on stage to perform a duet of Siti’s Seindah Biasa, before serenading the crowd with his own tunes like Sewindu and Jangan Cintai Aku Apa Adanya.

The concert at Axiata Arena marks her third and final stop in the region, having previously performed in Jakarta on Feb 21 and Singapore on March 2.
