#Showbiz: BlackPink wins first trophy at 2019 Shorty Awards

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop sensation BlackPink won the Best In Music award for the first time at the 11th Shorty Awards which took place in New York City yesterday.

The annual awards ceremony recognises individuals and organisations who are influencers that produce great content on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and the rest on the social media platform.

According to Soompi, the female music quartet garnered this year’s award after beating other fellow finalists Harry Styles, Janelle Monae, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves and Mason Ramsey.

Although BlackPink could not attend the ceremony as the popular group was currently on its world tour, the four girls expressed their gratitude in a pre-recorded video message.

Member Rose said: “Sadly, we couldn’t make it to the show in New York because we’re currently on the North American tour, but we just wanted to say thank you, and thank you to our Blinks as well.”

Soompi also reported that BlackPink member Jisoo recently expressed her appreciation for the group’s Blinks or fans.

The idol posted an entry on Instagram yesterday that was accompanied by a photo of herself backstage at BlackPink’s recent concert in Newark, US.

In her post, she started off in English with: “Thank you Blinks for coming to our concert in Newark.”

Jisoo then continued with a heartfelt message of love and gratitude in honour of BlackPink’s 1,000th day of existence.

Her message, which was written in Korean, read: “Also, 1000 days have already passed since our debut, and thank you for existing together with us in our countless good memories from that time. Let’s continue to make lots of good memories together during the even longer periods of time that remain for us in the future. Thank you, and I love you always.”
