KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress Siti Saleha Baharom has done Malaysia proud, winning her first international award.
The 30-year-old star of Mamak Cupcake and Terbaik Dari Langit was recently awarded the Malaysia Model Star Award, one of the categories of the 15th Asia Model Festival 2020 which will be held in Seoul, South Korea on Saturday.
Announcing the good news on Instagram today, Siti Saleha said that representatives of the awards' organising committee recently came to Malaysia to present her with a trophy, as the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to combat the Covid-19 pandemic prevented her from travelling to Seoul.
Siti Saleha said: "It's my first international win! Such wonderful news from the Asia Model Festival Organising Committee 2020 in Seoul, South Korea.
"During the time of this pandemic comes this unexpected announcement. Therefore, I would like to share this win with my fellow Malaysians.
"Thank you so much for the endless support and unconditional love.
"To the organising committee and judges, thank you for recognising my work and international exposure.
"Not forgetting my winning colleagues for raising the bar high, so that we have been encouraged to work harder and always be better versions of ourselves.
"Stay safe everyone and take care. Thank you so much."
Some of Siti Saleha's close friends in showbiz congratulated her for her first international win.
"Congrats Saleha. You've put us on the map," said actress Adeline Tsen.
Actress Tiz Zaqyah said: "Congrats! Fly high, Sally."
Actress Ummi Nazeera said: "Tahniah Saleha. So proud of you."
Siti Saleha, who hails from Klang, has been modelling since she was 12 and began her acting career in 2013.
Her best known dramas include 5 Jingga, Ruby, Awan Dania, Asmara Luna and 7 Hari Mencintaiku, while her best known films include Kerat 14, KL Zombi, Balada Pencinta, Mamak Cupcake and Terbaik Dari Langit.
The Asia Model Festival Organising Committee (AMFOC) is part of South Korea's Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry. It promotes various cultural exchanges in fashion, modelling, beauty and entertainment around Asia.
