#Showbiz: Shila Amzah leads first Mandarin music reality show

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Shila Amzah, who made it big in China, is seeking for Malaysia's next big Mandarin language artiste.

The 31-year-old artiste is the principal of her very own reality show Shila Amzah Masterclass, set to air at 9pm every Saturday on 8TV beginning Saturday (Nov 27).

Produced by Infinitus Media and YAYGO Entertainment, led by Shila herself, the aspiring singers in the competition will also be guided by popular artistes such as Nicholas Teoh, Jaclyn Victor, Priscilla Abby, Kaka Azraff, Naim Daniel, Nikki Palikat and Elvira Arul.

"Shila has selected five proteges out of 300 applicants and they went through a 10-day intensive Boot Camp masterclass, where their technical skills were honed and their psychological resilience tested," said 8TV in a statement.

The proteges are Lydia Lim Pei San, Winnie Leong Wan Yi, June Wong Yoke Yee, Uriah See Khai and Daniel Sher Aaton Bahadur.

They will face various challenges throughout the show, and overcome them with the guidance of their experienced celebrity trainers.

As the principal, Shila interacts with her proteges and takes viewers on a weekly journey that reveals their collective progress up-close and personal.

"Shila and her team will highlight the transformations the proteges undergo, how they develop resilience and how they prepare themselves to be on top of their game.

"Viewers can expect amazing contributions from these proteges who bring with them different expertise, cultural influences, and musical styles," said the statement.

After eight episodes, the five proteges will present their graduation performances.

Shila will announce the winner and he or she will get to record a duet with the singer herself.
