#Showbiz: Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal wed in grand ceremony

KUALA LUMPUR: Bollywood stars Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal tied the knot today at Six Senses Fort Barwara, a luxury hotel converted from a 14th century fort, in Rajasthan, India.

According to the South China Morning Post, the 38-year-old Hong Kong-born actress and the 33-year-old actor had invited over 120 guests to their grand and opulent four-day event.

Apparently, 100 cooks and confectioners had been specially flown in to create a banquet featuring Punjabi and English cuisines and a top henna artist from Dubai was invited to do the bride's and bridesmaids' make-up.

The celebrity couple were said to be residing in the hotel's US$10,000 (about RM42,162) per night signature luxury suite which includes a private swimming pool, jacuzzi and landscaped gardens.

As part of the celebrations, the newlyweds are expected to perform a choreographed dance to their hit Bollywood songs.

A crocodile and tiger safari were reportedly also organised for guests.

Those invited had to agree to a no handphone condition and were ordered to hold off contact with the outside world until the wedding was over.

It is believed that any photos after that to be shared online would have to be first vetted by wedding planners.

An insider told This Week In Asia that the tight control was partially due to the fact that rights to the event's footage had been sold for US$11.5 million (about RM48.5 million).

This is similar to the wedding of fellow Indian star Priyanka Chopra to US singer Nick Jonas in 2019 where the event was streamed in a documentary format.
