#Showbiz: Adibah Noor plans to pay off debts with GV8 prize money

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer and actress Adibah Noor will be utilising the prize money she won in the recently concluded reality TV singing competition Gegar Vaganza: Season 8 (GV8), to pay off her debts.

The 51-year-old artiste who received RM20,000 after winning fourth place in the competition on Sunday said that many have known about her money problems brought on by the pandemic and its ensuing MCOs which had cut off her source of income.

Adibah added that she would also use her cash winnings to redeem her jewellery that she had to pawn off during the MCO back in 2020.

"I think everyone knows the hardships I had to live through during the past two MCOs. I am not ashamed to admit that.

"I'll be using this prize money to pay off all my previous debts and redeem my jewellery.

"Aside from that, I will be saving a bit of it and if there's any left I want to go on a vacation to get some rest," she said in a news report yesterday.

The Terlalu Istimewa hitmaker added that participating in GV8 had made her a more open-minded person as well as less judgemental.

During the GV8 finale which was held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Adibah sang a cover of Seroja by singer S. Effendy and performed Kau Di Hatiku as a duet with Datuk Zainal Abidin.

Singaporean singer Aliff Aziz emerged as the champion of GV8 with Nikki Palikat in second place, while Suki Low took the third spot.
