#Showbiz: Jackson Wang causes 'mamak' to trend after expressing Malaysian foodie crave on Twitter

KUALA LUMPUR: Dashing member of popular K-Pop group Got7 Jackson Wang was in Malaysia yesterday to entertain fans as a headline act at the two-day Good Vibes Weekender music festival which kicked off on Friday.

The 28-year-old Chinese singer, record producer and fashion designer took to Twitter last night to express his post-concert munchies.

"A big thank you #Malaysia for being there. Please get home safe and if you're going out, stay safe!

"Wanna go to Mamak but it's closed at 1 (am). Having it tomorrow. About to hang with the crew.

"Thanks for the suggestion, now I know where to go," he tweeted.

Wang added: "Passion. So fire today. I love you Malaysia. #MAGICMAN will be back real soon."

Apparently, the talented artiste who is also a rapper, dancer and host with a Twitter following of over 6.6 million fans caused the ubiquitous Malaysian foodie term "Mamak" to trend.

His tweet has since been retweeted 11,600 times and has received 38,600 likes.

Wang, who also has over 30 million followers on Instagram, was in town to promote his sophomore solo studio album, Magic Man, which dropped on Sept 9.

His first solo release, Mirrors, from 2019 reached No.32 on the Billboard 200 chart in the US. According to Soompi, Magic Man made its debut on the same chart at No.15 recently.

Meanwhile, Wang also showed his compassionate side for his beloved fans during his arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.

Flying in from Jakarta, Indonesia, Wang was seen mobbed by fans who were excited to get close to the idol.

According to Koreaboo, the situation rapidly escalated as Wang struggled to leave the arrival area after being mobbed despite being surrounded by security personnel.

But the fresh-faced artiste kept his cool and was seen to be more concerned about the welfare of his fans.

He apparently left his circle of guards to help fans that had fallen over and could be heard telling the security officers to "calm down" and not to push the fans.

Despite the increasing crowd Wang did not seem to mind as he walked out of the airport and even took time to grab as many letters offered by fans before he left.

He later tweeted: "So happy to see you all , thanks for welcoming me to this amazing place #Malaysia at the airport."

"One thing I gotta say. Be safe. It was a little dangerous back then, you guys could've been hurt. I truly worry. So please, safety first. I'll see you tonight," he wrote.

Aside from Wang who performed yesterday, former member of K-Pop girl group 2NE1, CL, had also entertained fans as a headline act on Friday at the Good Vibes Weekender music festival.

A whole slew of other artistes including popular local acts such as Joe Flizzow, Dolla, Yonnyboii and Sonaone had also performed for fans at the event which was held at Sunway Lagoon's Surf Beach in Selangor.
