KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Datin Paduka Julie Sudiro has been admitted to Universiti Teknologi MARA Hospital, in Puncak Alam, on Sunday due to lung complications.
Persatuan Karyawan Malaysia (Karyawan) president Datuk Freddie Fernandez shared this in a news report yesterday.
Fernandez said he and some friends visited the 80-year-old jazz and keroncong crooner who has been singing since the 1960s last Thursday.
"She was already weak and had difficulty walking as she had already developed lung problems then.
"So when she was admitted, I received a call saying that it was due to breathing difficulty, resulting from a drop below normal reading on her oxygen levels," he said.
Fernandez hoped everyone would pray for Julie's well-being.
It was also reported that the singer whose real name was Raden Juariah Raden Sudiro had spent the last few years teaching Quran reading. Among those who attended her class were late Mariani's daughter Shasha and Dian P. Ramlee.
