#Showbiz: Warner Music confirms axing Kaka Azraff

KUALA LUMPUR: Record company Warner Music confirmed that it has terminated the contract of singer Kaka Azraff following her vocal take on the war in Gaza.

According to Harian Metro, Warner Music released a statement highlighting its decision as a result of Kaka's conduct even though the company fully supports the right to freedom of speech among the artistes under its roster.

"Kaka is a very talented artiste, but unfortunately, we have to part ways with her due to the particular language used within her direct messages (DM) that has been on display online.

"We stand firm in fighting for the right to freedom of speech by the artistes under us. However, anyone who acts in such a way, without taking into account the group, race or religion, will be met with the same decision by us," it said.

No exact date on when the contract had ended was given.

Recently, it was alleged that Kaka was scheduled to be dropped by the record company as of Dec 31.

According to a source, the contract between the 34-year-old singer and Warner Music was originally set to expire on April 2024.

Previously, Kaka, whose real name is Nor Atiqa Noor Azraff, had allegedly sent disparaging DMs to pro-Israeli Australian influencer and actor, Nathaniel Buzolic.

Her profile was later said to have been shared on a website named Jew Hate Database that also listed Kaka as anti-Semitic.
